Looking for information and help with my family tree. I'm sure you or any of your lovely guests might have some knowledge.
My Great Grandmother Mary Lenox Miller was born in Sorn, Ayrshire in 1869 and resided in Paisley Abbey in 1881.

Her mother was Margaret Campbell 1842-1905 (it looks like she lived there her whole life) and father her was David Miller 1841-1914

David Millers Parents were Hugh 1816 - ? and Agnes Miller 1822 - ? in this same town

Margaret Campbell's parents were John Campbel (1800-1864)and Mary Lenox (1804-1880)

if you can see any history in your town please feel free to share :)

I am trying to find info on someone, he was my best man at my wedding and then I moved to California for twenty years. I visited his family with him once in cattrine. I know he worked in the bakery (owner possibly called willy) with a guy that closed it down hence he moved to London where we met. He had a sister maybe a couple of years his senior he would be fifty years old now. His mum was a nurse and sister possibly too. I remember she liked to shop as we went to Glasgow shopping. It would be good to get in touch with him if you are able to help. Mobile number 07842 035580 thx Norman price.

Hi,

I just found a picture of my Auntie May I never knew existed. She is on the picture at Catrine Public School, Primary class 1945 on page three. She is third from the right in the centre row ( Mary, but known as May)and was evacuated from Clydebank along with my mother Nancy, their younger sister, Margaret, and my granny. Sadly, she died young of cancer in the 70's. I was very surprised to stumble on this!

My husband is a Catrine man as are all his family. We recently came by an old photograph of my husband's Uncle as a youth along with many other people. My husband has asked if this photograph can be posted on your site as there was interest when it was shown in The Brewery Bar when we visited last month. Can anyone advise how I do this? I have it on my phone which I can post from. Thanks

Hello there, I'm sending this on behalf of a friend, Herr Ottokar * * *. In 1945 his uncle, Alfons Feldmueller was a Pow On the island of Jersey before being being transferred to Catrine Ayrshire, possibly to a POW camp,or most likely to a local farm. He became friendly with a local family named Boyle who lived at 29 Somerville St. in Catrine. They had a daughter, Betty who at 16 was the same age as Ottokar at that time. The war was over and they became pen friends, exchanging letters for several years, although they never met. They lost contact with each other as time went by.It was a very long time ago, but perhaps someone knows what became of Betty and her family. We came across your wonderful site and thought the story might be of interest to you. If Betty is still living in Catrine, O sends his very best wishes.
