Enjoyed reading your History and just viewed the "Project" video enjoying both.
My family history from Catrine dated to 1850-1870 when my GGGrandparents Samuel and Sarah lived in the village first on Bridge street then on Wood Street. They had several children during that period some of whom died but three survived to emigrate with their parents to Newburgh, NY, USA
Looking at google street view it would appear that the houses they may have lived in have been replaced, are there any photos of the homes on Bridge and Wood dating to the 1860's.
Thanks, John

I would like to contact any of my relatives through my mother - Jean Martell - I do know that she had brothers from Catrine - all deceased as far as I know. Francis, James, Bernard McDowell. I think she had a sister Theresa. My mum immigrated to Canada after marrying Robert Martell at the end of WW2.

Your newspaper article about the opening of the Howford Bridge in 1962, took me back to those days, when as a young student in Edinburgh, I was looking for a Summer job back home in Catrine and ended up working on the bridge. It was backbreaking work and as part of a gang of workmen, we had to move concrete kerb stones from lorries to pavement. I only lasted about three weeks as I simply could not do the physical work involved. However, I did see the bridge being opened but missed the 'political' occassion.

Some help please, I joined the Army in 1963 and never really spent much time in Catrine after that. I do remember in the mid-60s that a "cold war bunker" was built up near the cemetery - can anyone provide any more information about it please.

Hi Rab I see after all these years your website is still going strong, its so nice to look back at Catrine and remember your roots, I certainly never forget that Im Catrine born and bred. I am now retired took early retirement in 2013 at 58yrs, best thing I ever did, we sold up, the wife and me both 58 years old and bought an American RV 36ft to travel around Europe, we are in Spain at the moment, living the dream, no stress, hot weather, cheap to live, everyday is a weekend. I just cant believe where the time has gone but when I look at your collection of photos, information and how it has gone global, Im so greatful that you have taken the time over the years to produce such an in depth account of our village, I would love for anyone who remembers me from the past to feel free and contact me would love to catch up on time where has it gone

Rab I have a name of one of the photos. On page three second photo down on left. The teacher third from left on back row is Jean Oliphant who lived in the gatehouse to ballochmyle at Temple Corner where the path lead to Jacobs Ladder.
I have just found out the whereabouts of Betty Buchanan from Catrine, who is still in touch with Jean Oliphant,so I should be talking to them both very soon.
