Hi Rab

just found your web site. It really is wonderful. My nan was born in catrine in 1925. Her name was Isabella cummings . Her brother was born in catrine too in 1921.
His name was Andrew cummings. Their mum also Isabella moved to Liverpool around 1934-1935 with her new husband barnacle. My family and i are just learning about our family in Scotland and we are all fascinated by the wonderful people we have found so far. unfortunately my nans mum Isabella barnacle (cummings)died in 1944 aged just 42 while my nan was just 19. So we never got to meet her.

Don't know if there are any cummings out there still in catrine

Hi Rab, some great old photos. I am sure one of the Findlay Girls is my Gran, Agnes "Nessie" McMurtrie". I have never seen this photo but she looks just like my Mum Elsie in the photo (2nd from left). Also it was great to see my aunt Morag in the Southsiders photo and I think the guitarist you don't know the name of looks awfly like my uncle Billy "Tibby" Hamilton. Keep up the good work, love looking at these old photos.

Hi Rab, ItÂ’s been a while since I was in here and the site is even better than before. I finally found a school photo of my wife Joyce and it was a challenge for the Grandkids to pick her out. Keep up the good work Rab & Hi to you all in Catrine. :!beer:

Admin reply: Last time I heard from you Tommy you were saying the weather where you are was getting a bit too hot. We are all freezing here at the moment and wishing it would warm up. Hope you and the family are all well.
Rab.

My dad James Templeton from Auchinleck told me to look for a photo of his auntie Ria on her on her hundred birthday. I found it on here. My dads mother was Annie Caddis Stewart Smerthem Templeton, Ria' sister. Do you have anymore photos?

Great to see the old photos and comments. I lived in Catrine from 1958 to 1967 and spent all my primary school years in the village. My father was Bert Dunlop, the village "bobby" and we lived in what was the Police Station at 9 Ballochmyle Street just opposite the "Congregational Church". Both my mother and father are still with us being 83 and 79 years old and living happily in Girvan where they retired from their Police and Nursing careers. Would be pleased to hear from anyone who knows me or family and wants some history. Would love to see our old house again as I'm sure it has changed beyond recognition

Lived on St Cuthbert street, moved to USA at age of 15 in 1957. I enjoy the site. Nice to see familiar faces in the school pics

Admin reply: Don't know if you are any relation to the Raymond who was in the previous entry but I have replied to him about Hugh and Nan Hood, Maybe anyone else who knows the Hoods could help him discover more about the family.

Hi there looking for info on my great great grandfather and his family . His father and he were photographers in Catrine . Also looking for copies of postcards published by their firm around 1900 . hope someone can help. cheers Ray. Hood

Admin reply: I was always aware of the Hoods Postcards and some of the photos I have been given over the years were either Duncan or Hood or Gibb. My only living memory of Hoods in Catrine were of Hugh and Nan Hood. Brother and sister who lived in Shawlands Street where I was born. A bachelor and a spinster. They were lovely people. I don't know if it was Hugh or Nan or maybe both of them that played piano but they had a baby Grand in their upstairs council house. Hugh used to take the car out on a Sunday and wash it and put it back in the garage for the rest of the week after church. Except on special occasions.May nearly reached the letter from the queen but I think she died in Affleck House in her late ninties
