Comments: Glad to see the webside is still thriving Rab. My father Jim Raeside died last year aged 103 and his last wish was to be buried in the family grave at Catrine which I was glad to take care of for him. He was brought up in the Red Lion and never quite accepted the way it ended up. A Happy New Year to all in Catrine.
Comments: I was born in 1971. lived in Catrine until i moveed to Glasgow then i ended up back in Ayrshire. i would like if anyone had old photos from 1976 untill 1985 when i was at school in Catrine. It would reilly help my family to understand my life, I run about with Billy Reynolds. Ian Flower. Shawn willson. thank to yous all and all the best for 2015
Comments: I was thrilled to find this page. I am doing ancestry research and am trying to track down a Hugh McCluskie, married to an Mary Lumsden from Muirkirk. Mary was born in 1911 so I'm assuming that Hugh would be born around the same time. Hugh worked in the mines and as I understand it, they had 2 or 3 children. If they married in the 1930's, they would start having their children then and be off to school. I see a John McCluskie went to school in Catrine in the 1950's so am hoping this is a relative of the people I am looking. My connection to all of this is my grandmother, Margaret Christina Lumsden - born in 1902 was a sister to Mary, so Hugh would have been her brother-in-law. thanks Iva Lindsay
Comments: Was wondering if u had any info/pictures of my Papa he drove the bonnie jean ambulance in Catrine. Any help would be grateful 😊 my dad's name is Jimmy Ferguson and his dad's name was the same.

Comments: Hi, I am researching my family history and I believe some of my family hail from Catrine/Sorn. The family name I am looking for is Hunter in particular a Matthew Hunter who married Margaret Baird in Stevenston in 1820. I think his father was called Matthew and he could have born in Sorn he married Janet Shaw in Kilmarnock in 1795. There is also a connection with the Morton family. Hugh Morton and wife Janet Hamilton. As far as I know Hugh was manager of Gas Works in Catrine. Hope you can help me. Thank you.
Comments: Looking for information and help with my family tree. I'm sure you or any of your lovely guests might have some knowledge. My Great Grandmother Mary Lenox Miller was born in Sorn, Ayrshire in 1869 and resided in Paisley Abbey in 1881.
Her mother was Margaret Campbell 1842-1905 (it looks like she lived there her whole life) and father her was David Miller 1841-1914
David Millers Parents were Hugh 1816 - ? and Agnes Miller 1822 - ? in this same town
Margaret Campbell's parents were John Campbel (1800-1864)and Mary Lenox (1804-1880)
if you can see any history in your town please feel free to share

Comments: I am trying to find info on someone, he was my best man at my wedding and then I moved to California for twenty years. I visited his family with him once in cattrine. I know he worked in the bakery (owner possibly called willy) with a guy that closed it down hence he moved to London where we met. He had a sister maybe a couple of years his senior he would be fifty years old now. His mum was a nurse and sister possibly too. I remember she liked to shop as we went to Glasgow shopping. It would be good to get in touch with him if you are able to help. Mobile number 07842 035580 thx Norman price.
I just found a picture of my Auntie May I never knew existed. She is on the picture at Catrine Public School, Primary class 1945 on page three. She is third from the right in the centre row ( Mary, but known as May)and was evacuated from Clydebank along with my mother Nancy, their younger sister, Margaret, and my granny. Sadly, she died young of cancer in the 70's. I was very surprised to stumble on this!
