My husband is a Catrine man as are all his family. We recently came by an old photograph of my husband's Uncle as a youth along with many other people. My husband has asked if this photograph can be posted on your site as there was interest when it was shown in The Brewery Bar when we visited last month. Can anyone advise how I do this? I have it on my phone which I can post from. Thanks

Hello there, I'm sending this on behalf of a friend, Herr Ottokar * * *. In 1945 his uncle, Alfons Feldmueller was a Pow On the island of Jersey before being being transferred to Catrine Ayrshire, possibly to a POW camp,or most likely to a local farm. He became friendly with a local family named Boyle who lived at 29 Somerville St. in Catrine. They had a daughter, Betty who at 16 was the same age as Ottokar at that time. The war was over and they became pen friends, exchanging letters for several years, although they never met. They lost contact with each other as time went by.It was a very long time ago, but perhaps someone knows what became of Betty and her family. We came across your wonderful site and thought the story might be of interest to you. If Betty is still living in Catrine, O sends his very best wishes.

Thanks for this website. I am researching my maternal grandmother's family, the McCarlie's of Catrine. Her dad was Andrew M. McCarlie. It is nice to see where my grandmother grew up in the early 1900's.

A great grandmother named Marion Scott (Steven) born nov 9 1881? married to John Scott in catrine Jan 8 1904. Mother shredded photos and our past. I have nothing, no photos of grandparents , great grandparents, only one photo was left and that is of this Marion Scott . I would like to know who John Scott was , a birth possible of 1882. They went on to have children named tom, agnes and flora Scott. Flora then became Gilmour and then later on Knox. She apparently died in 1975 I never met her..She is my grandmother, never saw a photo of her either. Oh and Marion dad was George Steven and her Mum was Helen and her dad died in Catrine 1910 April 10.Ive spend hundreds just on death certificates and credits and all the rest of it.One day I will come home and I can go to the libraries and register and see for myself. Any familiar names here? any help at all. Please don't hesitate . Thankyou gwen.johnson@cogeco.ca :o
