Comments: Hi Rab I see after all these years your website is still going strong, its so nice to look back at Catrine and remember your roots, I certainly never forget that Im Catrine born and bred. I am now retired took early retirement in 2013 at 58yrs, best thing I ever did, we sold up, the wife and me both 58 years old and bought an American RV 36ft to travel around Europe, we are in Spain at the moment, living the dream, no stress, hot weather, cheap to live, everyday is a weekend. I just cant believe where the time has gone but when I look at your collection of photos, information and how it has gone global, Im so greatful that you have taken the time over the years to produce such an in depth account of our village, I would love for anyone who remembers me from the past to feel free and contact me would love to catch up on time where has it gone

Comments: HI, just found your web site. I have been looking back over my past[wondering where it had gone ], remembering the good and bad times I had in Catrine ,I remember Andrew Mc.clelland and John McIlvene, but no more come to mind . I used to live in st.Cuthbert street it was around 1957-1958 , and then we moved to England . Iwas about 8 or 9 years old at the time if anyone remembers me from then , please get in touch as I have had a stroke and there are lots of bits missing. One thing I do remember is a school camp to west linton.....again does anyone remember that. thnks again
Comments: Rab I have a name of one of the photos. On page three second photo down on left. The teacher third from left on back row is Jean Oliphant who lived in the gatehouse to ballochmyle at Temple Corner where the path lead to Jacobs Ladder. I have just found out the whereabouts of Betty Buchanan from Catrine, who is still in touch with Jean Oliphant,so I should be talking to them both very soon.
Comments: My gran Betty Watson lived here until recently until she passed, she loved the village and it was a beautiful place to visit . I don't think I'll ever come back but it will Always be in our hearts .
Admin reply: I was sorry to here Betty had died recently. Your Gran and Grampa were our next door neighbours in Shawlands street when I was just a youngster in the 50's.

Comments: Looking at the old photographs on your web site brought back a load of memories - I used to live with my parents on Riverside rd /villas (I think that's what it was called)it was just across the road from the school next to the bridge. I've just checked Catrine out on Google street view and I am amazed that the School is no longer there and the new mill as been demolished (My Dad was the manager at the mill in the 60's)We moved away from Catrine in 1966. Its a shame that I cant find my school photograph from that year. I do remember that for some reason some of my schools classes were held at the Brown Institute, just before the connecting foot bridge was sweep away during a storm. Is Jacobs ladder still on the slope leading to Ballochmyle. I used to carry my golf clubs all the way up these to get to the golf club. Keep up the good work with the website, if I can locate any photographs from the 60's I will send you them, I know my Dad took quite a few when we lived there.
